Correctional care medicine is characterized as a general re-structuring of your life. You work steady day hours Monday through Friday, with call shared among all physicians and midlevels at the unit. Correctional Care Dentistry

Correctional care dentistry is generally characterized as dentistry at a comfortable pace, and not taking the job home with you. Patients per day usually 5-15 patients. You will be treating pain for the most part. Procedures include a majority of extractions and fillings. Some organizations do dentures. Multiple reports say that inmates are better patients than the general public. Correctional care is generally viewed as a rewarding experience by dentists. We have never had a temporary dentist refuse to return to correctional care. Many try it, like it and make it their new career. Hours are day hours Monday thru Friday. Typically it is your choice of 5 eight hour days or 4 ten hour days. Compensation for temporary prison work usually pays more than direct hire work.
